Zoning Commission Approves Variances

At its May 31 meeting, the Village's Zoning Commission approved a series of variances to allow for the construction of a new home at 2636 Underhill Road. Todd and Jenny Seifried have purchased the property and are planning to remove the existing house to build a new home.

The commission heard the couple's initial request at its May 18 meeting. At that time commission members were concerned with how the new home would be positioned on the lot, in relation to the existing homes on either side of the proposed house. The couple was initially seeking a minimum side yard variance of 16 feet. Side yards in this zoning district must be at least 22 feet.

The Seifried's contractor agreed to stake out the perimeter of the home, so commission members could visit the site and assess the couple's request.

At the May 31 meeting, the couple agreed to center the home on the lot, allowing them to adjust their minimum side yard variance request from 16 feet to 20.8 feet.

The commission voted 5-0 to approve the variances.
